Are you a coach, consultant, or service provider who's frustrated with the growth of your business? You're in the right place. I'm your host, Laurie-Ann Murabito, Public Speaking Coach, and you're listening to be in demand, where I talk about how to leverage speaking opportunities to grow your business, get positioned as the expert, and monetize your expertise. Let's get on to the show. Welcome back, everybody, to this podcasting series that I'm doing. Today, we're gonna be talking about making money with your podcast.

Laurie-Ann Murabito [00:00:41]:

Your podcast being the stage that you speak from, I believe that speaking and stages needs to be redefined. And what a beautiful stage you have to have your own podcast. Or you could even take all of this information and use it on your live stream show if that's the stage of your choice. And if you're guesting, well, some of these will work very well for guesting. Let's start with the first one. 1 is a dramatic demonstration. People seeing you or hearing you in action. So for me, these are my Thursday episodes.

Laurie-Ann Murabito [00:01:17]:

They are my speaker breakthrough sessions where you get to hear, it's almost like you're a fly on the wall, to a coaching episode. Somebody has said yes to being coached on how to leverage speaking opportunities. These people are not clients of mine whatsoever. The very first time that we meet is on this very call. There's no pre call. Nothing. It's just you show up. You fill out an application.

Laurie-Ann Murabito [00:01:46]:

And then they had a couple of questions. We dive into this coaching, and I help them uncover ways that they can actually start using speaking when people get great results. And if this is something that you'd like to participate in, I'll have that link down below. But it is speakandstandout.com/sbs for speaker breakthrough session. Do live coaching. I've also used workshops that I have done on Zoom with an audience. I've taken that audio, and I put it on my podcast. I do also explain when I've done something like this, that this was a workshop where there might have been some visuals.

Laurie-Ann Murabito [00:02:30]:

So just know that you might wanna also go take a look at the video, and that video takes people to YouTube. Let people know. Like, the audio quality might be different. It might you might hear some other voices on here, but it's still it's a form of dramatic demonstration as Dan Kennedy likes to call it. Number 2, you wanna make sure that you have solo episodes. And I started off with mostly solo episodes. Didn't wanna have too many guest episodes, and I think I just kinda knew that I needed to be the star of my stage. I need to be positioned as the expert.

Laurie-Ann Murabito [00:03:11]:

When I'm speaking at an in person event, I'm the only one that's on the stage unless I am part of a panel. So I want you, if you have your own podcast, have your own live stream show to make sure that you have some solo episodes where you're not always interviewing a guest. Because when I bring a guest in, they're actually being highlighted as an expert. Now when you do have guests, let's move on to number 3. Here's a couple of things that I like to do. I like to put their name in the title of the show for really good SEO, not only for me, but for them. That way if somebody is googling their name, hopefully, my podcast will actually come out. So it's a win win for both people, for me and the guest.

Laurie-Ann Murabito [00:04:00]:

And whenever you're in this conversation with people, really try to not obviously and don't try too hard, but you need to tie the information back to your methodology, your framework, how you work with clients, your thought leadership, really being able to tie that in whenever you're having a guest come on your show. And part of the reason for that is, one, I still want people to see you as an expert on your own show, but to also highlight how complimentary your guest topic is to what you do. So there should be a nice blend. Number 4, talk about your products, your services, and how they help people. Not just breezing over. I want you to really dive into. When I first launched in demand signature speech, I did a behind the scenes episode. I literally pulled back the curtain, and in an audio format, I shared with people what was in there.

Laurie-Ann Murabito [00:05:01]:

And I have to tell you, I had somebody who said the reason why I signed up was because of that episode. So where there's one, there's more evidence for others. So talk about your products, your services. Who were they a perfect fit for? What problems do they solve? How do they help people? What sort of situations can they be used in? Now this can also be used for any of your lead magnets. Now you're gonna hear me talk a lot more about this next month when I do the series on selling from the stage because I have this new lead magnet called magic phrases that you're just going to love. Number 5. Add episodes about how to work with you. So this is a little bit different than the last one where you're talking about specific products and services.

Laurie-Ann Murabito [00:05:48]:

But I have done episodes where I specifically talk about how to work with me so that people actually dive into them. It's like, oh, she does 1 on 1 coaching. She does intensive. She does these pick her brain, like, 1 hour sessions. I can get a lot done with somebody in an hour, and those are how to work with me 1 on 1. So it's a little bit different than the products episodes where I'm talking about maybe in demand signature speech or in demand the membership. Lots of different ways that you can be using your podcast, your stage, and being able to talk about problems that the audience is having, how you help solve them. And even this comes from my health care, little diagnosis, and here's the prescription.

Laurie-Ann Murabito [00:06:37]:

Here's the program or here's the product that you wanna go download. You know, now that I'm talking about this, there are some products like my speaker contract that I barely talk about. It's like you had to be on my email list to even know about it or purchase it. Number 6 is sponsorships. Now I don't have paid sponsorships. However, some of the products that I am involved with with, like, How to be a Great Guest, which you probably heard the commercial for before or after these episodes. That is Steve Gamlin. But he is my cohost in the How to be a Great Guest.

Laurie-Ann Murabito [00:07:17]:

And, Bruce Bernd, How to be a great guest is the sponsor of this podcast. So there's different ways to do sponsorships. You can have, like, an outside product or maybe it can be a sponsorship from one of your products, your services, a workshop, a challenge that's coming up. It can be this episode is being sponsored by the ABC challenge that is coming up. Go to insert the link to sign up today. So have fun with sponsorships. Number 7, and this one gets overlooked a lot. Client interviewers.

Laurie-Ann Murabito [00:07:56]:

Interview your clients. People that have gone through programs, people that you've worked 1 on 1 with. I love to do client interviews. One, I get to highlight them and we get to talk about the work that we did together. And what happens is that people in the audience get to be a fly on the wall, get to feel and see and hear what it's like from somebody else's point of view to work with me. So consider doing client interviews. It's a little bit part of number 1, which is the dramatic demonstration, but I'm not actually coaching. You're actually seeing the results and hearing from somebody else what it was like to work together.

Laurie-Ann Murabito [00:08:38]:

What problem did they have when they showed up? How did things change through the course of our work? And as the coach, it just makes me like the proud mama bear. I just love to see how people have progressed, how much more confident they became in speaking, and the audiences that they're impacting. So there is such a ripple effect to the work that I do, that it's not just my client. It's also the audience. It just makes my heart sing. Number 8 is a free lead magnet. Talking about your free lead magnet. Does it help like leading people to it? Go download this particular lead magnet.

Laurie-Ann Murabito [00:09:21]:

And from that lead magnet, you can have some sort of a offer page. Like, here's something that you're selling. It could be a low cost item. For me, I actually sell pitch templates. If you download the directory of places to speak, which is speakandstandout.com/directory, there's an offer to buy my pitch templates. These are the templates that I've been using for years and I give to my clients and they work so well. And it's a low cost item, but make sure that everything, the podcast episode, the lead magnet and that offer are all in alignment with each other. And last but not least, episodes that actually specifically talk about your lead magnet, how to use them, who it's for, where to get it, kind of a little bit about what I just did up above.

Laurie-Ann Murabito [00:10:16]:

But we want to be getting people on our email list, which is a way of they're coming into our world. They're gonna get to know, like, and trust us even more, and that's gonna make them more likely to be buyers in the future. So really diving in deep about your lead magnet. This is something that I have not done very well. However, I'm planning on doing this next month with selling from the stage because I have a brand new lead magnet, the one that I mentioned earlier, magic phrases. And if you wanna take a peek at this now, you can. You just go to speakandstandout.com/magic. That is what I wanted to share with you today.

Laurie-Ann Murabito [00:10:59]:

Short, sweet, simple, 9 different ways that you can be making more money from podcasting as your stage, if you're a coach or a consultant or a service provider. So till next week, I want you to be in demand. And just to give you a little preview of what next week's episode is all about since we are talking about this podcasting series, what episodes you should have, or speaking on your livestream show, what episodes you need to get more speaking gigs. This is something that I talk about with my private clients who have podcasts or anybody that I'm helping start a podcast who is also a speaker. I will dive deeper into this in the next episode. So till next week, be in demand.
